![]() She edited a three-volume collection of essays entitled Goddesses in World Culture, published in late 2010. She has also published The Encyclopedia of Celtic Myth and Folklore. In 1979, she published the first encyclopedia of female divinities, a book which has remained steadily in print since then and was recently republished in a two volume set as The Encyclopedia of Goddesses and Heroines. In 1995, she joined the faculty of the School for New Learning at DePaul University, where she taught classes in arts and environmental sciences.ĪSWM members will remember Patricia for her groundbreaking contributions to the fields of Goddess Studies and Women’s Spirituality. Patricia earned her PhD in Science and Literature from The Union Institute in Cincinnati in 1994. She worked as a journalist in both Minnesota and Alaska, writing about culture, nature, and the intersection of the two. She also earned an MFA in creative writing (poetry) from the University of Alaska. She earned her undergraduate and first graduate degree at the University of Minnesota, where she studied English and French literature. ![]() to Irish-American parents, and maintained dual Irish and American citizenship. ASWM grieves this loss and honors Patricia’s memory as we continue the work she envisioned. She was a Founding Mother of the Association for the Study of Women and Mythology. But no amount of clever plot twists were able to detract from the fact that I disliked most of the characters and the character arc was just too little, too late (literally).Īhern clearly had an agenda and a moral story to tell with this Christmas themed novel – but I felt the little references to Christmas that did feature were lack luster. It’s actually very well written and concise in all the right places. īy all means, this opinion does not mean that it’s bad or poorly written. Where to start? Firstly, I’m just going to come right out and say it: I did not enjoy this Christmas story. ![]() On that note I’m starting with The Gift, by Cecelia Ahern.
